Planner Position
Title
Urban Planner, Full Time
Location
Providence, Maine. We work in a mostly virtual office, but ability to travel to Boston is preferred.
Overview
Principle is seeking a full-time planner with at least 5 years of professional experience to join our team. The candidate must be adept at self-directed work and performing effectively within a virtual office environment. Required skills include planning, master planning, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and experience working in multi-day charrettes. Experience working according to the principles of the Congress for the New Urbanism and strong writing skills is required
Role
Contributing new ideas and critical thinking to all Principle projects.
Communicating directly and managing relationships with clients and consultants.
Managing work tasks and communicating clearly with other team members;
Assisting with writing copy for planning documents and office research projects.
Assisting in writing copy for public outreach and engagement materials;
Assisting with production and writing copy for project proposals and company website;
Helping to organize and manage public engagement events, including charrettes, tactical urbanism installations, and meetings.
Providing on-time delivery of project deliverables and ensuring that deadlines are met
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Art, or a related field.
Up to 5 years of urban planning work experience.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, oral, and written communication.
Ability to problem-solve and work collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to engage and self-direct while working remotely.
Ability to communicate in a clear and timely manner with clients, consultants, and other team members.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Proficiency in SketchUp preferred but not required.
